Design lab Studio Roosegaarde of Holland built a dome of metallic flowers that appear to come to life as they sense the presence of visitors at Sainte Marie Madeleine Church in Lille, France. Commissioned for Fantastic 2012, a festival of futuristic concepts in design and the arts, the Mylar flowers open and close when sensing changes in light, inviting visitors to engage with the craftmanship and innovation that was applied in the construction of the church in the 16th century.

Nice data chart: Due to globalization, the consequences of actions by institutions, companies and organizations were once local, whereas now they have global ramifications. Yet, countries continue to operate with gross disregard for the rest of the planet. Simon Anholt, policy advisor, has come up with an index to measure which governments consider the rest of the world the most, hoping to encourage others to do the same.
